RSL/Instore/Internet Radio
Many organisations regularly run events to highlight what they do, and to enhance community relations. These events also rely on a great deal of publicity to ensure that people attend, to make all the wok worthwhile. An RSL (Restricted Service Licence) radio station may be the answer! Not only will the station publicise your organisation and event, your volunteers/staff will also gain new skills and a greater understanding of the media. RSL Radio stations normally transmit within a 5-7 mile radius of the transmitter on the FM waveband for up to 28 days. Our chief monkey has been involved in the development of RSL radio
stations for 19 years! In 1990, he was involved in the management of
one of the first-ever RSL radio stations in Northern Ireland and has
worked with various groups and organisations since then to develop their
own stations. He was instrumental in the establishment of "Seven Sound" in Ballymena which led to the advertisement and awarding of a full-time radio licence in the area. He was the Project Consultant for a network of RSL stations established by the Ulster Scots Agency which resulted in over 40 volunteers being trained and operating the stations, giving airtime to musicians, artistes and local people who would not normally get the chance to broadcast on mainstream radio. The project generated over 7000 text messages for requests/dedications over 10 weeks.
